Press & Media

Atelier & Grove is a privately held cultural and hospitality platform founded by Michael and Sia Benest.

Operating across the Channel Islands, the West Country and North America, Atelier & Grove brings together art, heritage properties and curated hospitality experiences under a shared philosophy of stewardship.

We welcome considered engagement from press, institutions and cultural partners.

About Atelier & Grove

Founded by Michael and Sia Benest, Atelier & Grove was established as a long-term cultural platform rooted in place and designed to operate across jurisdictions.

Core activity includes:

  • Alma House, St Helier
  • Gallery @500ft, Lynton
  • The Sandrock, a 10-bedroom boutique hotel
  • A Little Deli, artisan provisions
  • The Atelier Circle
  • Canadian cultural programming and collaborations

Atelier & Grove supports artists, hosts curated gatherings and develops enduring cultural spaces across the UK and North America.

The Art of Deception

A core part of the programme includes learning retreats led by David Henty.

These retreats explore painting traditions, copying, authorship, and the role of judgement in art. Participants examine technique alongside wider questions of originality, belief, and interpretation.

Working in small groups, these sessions prioritise close observation, thoughtful critique, and engagement with practice from the inside, rather than the production of finished work.

Current Projects

  • Alma House Inaugural Exhibition
  • David Henty: Forgery on Trial
  • Artist Residencies and Escapes
  • The Sandrock redevelopment
  • Cross-border cultural initiatives

Further announcements will follow.

Founders
