Five Centuries of Shadow at Mont Orgueil Castle

Location: Mont Orgueil Castle, Jersey
Date: November 2026
Duration: One-week only

Masters of Darkness

A strictly curated, one-week immersive exhibition exploring the evolution of dark beauty.

From the blood-soaked canvases of the 17th-century Italian Baroque to the digital mysticism of the modern day, Masters of Darkness invites visitors into the shadows of Mont Orgueil Castle.

This exclusive pop-up exhibition brings together a rare collection of works from five internationally recognised artists, tracing the lineage of chiaroscuro - the dramatic interplay of light and darkness - within the atmospheric stone walls of one of Jersey's most iconic medieval fortresses.

The Classical Foundation

Witness the technical mastery of David Henty, the world's leading master forger, presenting faithful recreations of Caravaggio's most visceral works including Medusa and The Incredulity of Saint Thomas.

The Experience

The Great Hall
The castle's historic interior spaces will host a prestigious gallery hang featuring large-scale works, oil paintings and physical prints presented in a dramatic candlelit setting.

The Chambers and Vaults
Visitors will move through the castle's lower chambers where immersive projections and light installations interact with the medieval architecture, creating a dialogue between ancient stone and contemporary art.

The Contemporary Visionaries

Artists will be announced soon

Exhibitions

Each exhibition within the Atelier & Grove programme occupies a space shaped by its subject. Works are selected not for spectacle, but for the questions they quietly refuse to answer. Authorship, memory, belief, and the nature of value — these are the recurring preoccupations. The setting is always chosen with intent.
